Q: Why do I have to pay $300 if the program is free?
A: We require a 100% refundable $300 deposit to ensure families commit to the full 4-week program. Unfortunately, in our last session, many students dropped out after signing up, which took spots away from others. This deposit is fully refunded at the end of the program if your child attends at least 6 out of 8 sessions (we allow up to 2 excused absences).
Q: How will I get my deposit back?
A: After the final session, if your child has attended at least six sessions, we’ll issue a full refund within 5–7 business days. You’ll get an email confirming your refund via Paypal.
Q: What happens after I register?
A: You’ll get a confirmation email with all the info you need before the first session.
Q: What if my child is shy?
A: That’s exactly why we’re here! Almaden Voices is designed for those who may feel unsure about public speaking. Every session is encouraging, low-pressure, and fun. Many of our students start off shy and end the program excited to share their voice.

Q: Can I stay during the sessions?
A: Parents are welcome to stay for the first 30 minutes of the first session for an introduction to the program, and are invited to attend the full final session to watch the students present their speeches. For all other sessions, we ask that you drop off and return at pickup so students can gain confidence and independence in a peer-led environment.
Q: Why are you collecting $10 in registration fee money?
A: This money is used to help us partner with external organizations to gain additional resources, as well as maintain this website!
Q: Who can join?
A: Any child who's in 3rd through 6th grade! Over the summer, this means rising 4th through 7th graders.
